How to Conduct a Fitting Session

Fitting a garment is an essential part of the pre-production process. If you’ve never done it before, it can be a little intimidating, so we found links to some great online resources to make sure you’re able to have the most effective fitting.

If you’re based in Central Indiana, our team would be happy to do a fitting with you in-person, however, if you are located in another part of the country, you will need to do the fitting on your own and that means you need to know what to look for.

To that end, we have a list of links to articles as well as videos that take you - step by step - through the entire process.

WARNING: There are a lot of things you need to consider as you review your prototype so you may be tempted to skip some step, PLEASE DON’T. Doing so will result in your project taking more time to complete and costing a lot more money.

Probably the biggest piece of advice we can offer is to make sure you have one specific person who is NOT YOU, who you will use throughout the project as your “fit model”. It’s tempting to use yourself as the model, but you cannot possibly do a proper fitting while wearing the garment yourself. So please, just don’t.
