Dates: Friday April 24th 2026
Time: 6pm-8:30pm
Cost: $25
PREREQUISITES: No sewing or SW class required.
Reading Patterns and PDFs will be a hands-on introduction for anyone curious (or intimidated!) by the Paper or PDF Patterns.
In this two-hour session, you'll learn:
How to choose a pattern to fit your needs
How to choose the correct size for a pattern ( a short intro to measuring yourself)
How to choose the correct fabric and notions for a pattern, and when you can or CAN’t sub fabric
How prep and set up pattern pieces and cut your fabric
How to find and purchase PDF patterns online
Best practices for printing and assembling them at home
Tips for reading and using them in your next sewing project
More and more independent Pattern Makers are choosing to produce PDF patterns, especially with the disappearance of Joanns, the skill of correctly assembling these patterns is essential to growing your sewing knowledge.
*There will be no sewing or cutting of fabric at this time.
WHAT’S PROVIDED: Sample of pdf printed pattern, sample of store bought pattern, tape, scissors and large tables for assembly.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING: You are welcome to bring a printed PDF pattern with you if you’d like to work with your own pattern. You are welcome to bring your own store bought pattern, but we will not cut it out - we can go over instructions as an example for the class and touch on what materials and notions you will need.
CLASS CANCELLATION: We reserve the right to cancel class if not enough students sign up to participate. Should that happen, you will receive a full refund.
*Please add the class(es) you would like to register to your cart, then fill out your contact information. Next click the orange shopping cart to process to payment. An email will be sent via Square to confirm payment and registration was complete. Look forward to seeing you in our class soon.
