CLASS GUIDE

StitchWorks is a working production studio where you’ll learn on industrial sewing machines. While we teach on professional equipment, all of the skills you practice can easily be used on a home machine, too. Because of the machinery in our space, we recommend classes for ages 16 and up.

SHORT TERM COURSE LEVELS

  • Introductory

    Intro to Industrial Sewing/Skill 1

    (Prerequisite to all other courses)

    Basic understanding of the skills and techniques of industrial straight-stitch and overlock sewing machine operation.

  • Construction & Intermediate

    Skill 2 & Basic Construction

    (Intro/ Skill 1 required)

    Explore sewing through a variety of techniques, including pattern-following, working with different textiles, and essential sewing skills like zipper installation, hemming, and pocket creation. BC class projects change seasonally.

  • Advanced

    Basic Alterations, Skill 3, and more.

    Understanding of skills and techniques to alter clothing for fit, with both hand and machine sewing. This class is for experienced sewers. (darts, tucks, taking in seams)

    *There will be requirements per class. minimally Skill 1 and 2 additional SW classes

  • Private Lessons

    Offered for ages 13 yr and older.

    Individual sewing and construction lessons for those who are looking for one on one training with a sewing professional.

    Lessons will be tailor-made to the goals and skill level of each individual sewer. Each lesson will be 2 hours long and a minimum of three lessons will be required initially.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If there is a need to cancel your registration for a class, StitchWorks requires an email stating cancelation to info@stitchworksindy.com, a minimum of 7 days prior to scheduled class, to receive a refund. StitchWorks does not reschedule missed classes.

All private lessons are nonrefundable, as booking reserves dedicated instructor time. One (1) rescheduling request may be accommodated based on instructor availability. Additional rescheduling requests or no-shows will result in forfeiture of the lesson.
