COURSE DURATION: 4.5 hour class

PREREQUISITE: Domestic sewing machine experience preferred, but not required

LEVEL: Beginner

MINIMUM AGE: 16

DESCRIPTION: This 4.5 hour class is designed to give students a basic understanding of the skills and techniques of industrial straight-stitch and overlock sewing machine operation, using industrial machines. The class is for those who are new to sewing in all together and those new to the use of industrial sewing machines. The student will be trained in concepts, tools, and safety skills that will prepare them for extending their knowledge in addition classes offered.

CLASS CANCELLATION: We reserve the right to cancel class if not enough students sign up to participate. Should that happen, you will receive a full refund.

Description:

This 4.5 hour class (morning session-break-afternoon session) is designed to give students a basic understanding of the skills and techniques of industrial straight-stitch and overlock sewing machine operation. The student will be trained in concepts, tools, and safety skills that will prepare them for extending their knowledge in addition classes offered.

Emphasis is placed on safe machine operation, setup and maintenance, threading, sewing straight lines, corners, and curves. 

During this course you will learn the following skills:

  • Plain seam pressed open

  • Plain seam pressed to one side

  • Serged seam pressed open

  • Serged seam pressed to one side

  • Curved seam

  • Topstitch
