Create a custom elastic waistband skirt in this hands-on 5-hour sewing workshop. Students will learn how to take accurate body measurements, calculate skirt fullness, cut fabric, construct gathered panels, create an elastic waistband, and hem their skirt.
The class will also cover proper body measuring techniques for garment sewing. Each student will leave with their own recorded body measurements to use for future projects.
Students can customize the volume and length of their skirt while building confidence in beginner garment construction techniques. This class is great for beginner and intermediate sewists looking to create a versatile, wearable garment.
Students will leave class with a completed or nearly completed skirt and the skills to recreate the project in different styles and lengths.
LEVEL: Beginner
MINIMUM AGE: 16
PREREQUISITE: Skill 1 required
FABRIC AND SUPPLIES: Bring your own fabric as we do not have enough yardage at Stitchworks. Fabric must be woven: 1.5–2.5 yards for a short skirt, 2.5-4.5 yards for a longer skirt
COURSE DURATION: 4.5 hour class
CLASS CANCELLATION: We reserve the right to cancel class if not enough students sign up to participate. Should that happen, you will receive a full refund.
